The Entrepreneurial Operating System
What is EOS®?
A simple, practical framework that helps leadership teams run better businesses.
EOS, the Entrepreneurial Operating System, is a complete way of running a business. It gives your leadership team a common language, a clear set of tools, and a simple rhythm that brings focus, accountability and traction to everything you do.
It is not a consultancy model or a theory. It is a practical system that over 275,000 businesses worldwide have used to get out of the weeds and start building something that works without them.
Where did EOS come from?
EOS was created by Gino Wickman and introduced in his book Traction®, published in 2007. Wickman spent years working with entrepreneurial businesses and distilled everything that made them work into a single, practical system.
Traction has since become one of the most widely read business books in the world, and EOS has grown into a global movement with thousands of businesses implementing it every year.
How does EOS work?
EOS works by strengthening Six Key Components® of your business simultaneously. Most businesses focus on one or two things at a time. EOS works on all six at once, because in a real business everything is connected.
Vision
Getting every person in your business 100% on the same page with where you are going and how you are going to get there.
People
Making sure you have the right people in the right seats. Great vision means nothing without the right team to execute it.
Data
Running your business on facts and figures rather than feelings and opinions. A handful of weekly numbers that tell you exactly how the business is performing.
Issues
Identifying, discussing and solving problems permanently rather than letting them linger. Every business has issues. The best ones get good at solving them.
Process
Documenting and following the handful of core processes that make your business run. Consistency, scalability, and the ability to manage without being everywhere at once.
Traction®
Bringing the vision down to the ground and executing on it every day. Rocks, meetings, accountability. This is where strategy becomes reality.
Is EOS right for my business?
EOS works best for entrepreneurial businesses that are growth-oriented, open to change, and willing to be honest about what is and is not working. In practice, that tends to mean founder-led businesses with between 10 and 250 people.
It is not the right fit for every business. If the leadership team is not open to being challenged, or if the founder is not willing to commit to the process, it will not work. EOS requires honesty, vulnerability and a genuine desire to improve.
If you are running a business where the leadership team is pulling in different directions, where the same issues keep coming up, where you know something needs to change but you are not sure what, EOS is almost certainly worth a conversation.
